Abducted 7-year-old Calif. girl placed with foster family after being found in Phoenix

Authorities say a 7-year-old girl who was snatched from California as a toddler has been placed in a foster home after being found living with a palm-reading couple in Phoenix.

Los Angeles County sheriff's Capt. Patrick Maxwell said Monday that Amber Nicklas is with a family in California while authorities investigate.

Maxwell says the girl was living with another foster family when her juvenile aunts stole her from a restaurant in 2003 in suburban Los Angeles.

Authorities say the girl was found last week, living under the name Sandra with a couple who run a palm-reading business.

Their attorney John Blischak says the couple got the girl from her biological grandmother and didn't know she was kidnapped.

No charges have been filed.
